Terms and Conditions for Choos

Welcome to Choos (“we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of the Choos mobile application and the website getchoos.com. By creating an account or using our restaurant discovery services, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing Choos, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must immediately cease all use of the application.
2. Eligibility and Age Verification
In compliance with 2026 state-level online safety regulations (including Texas SB 2420), Choos implements strict age verification.
Minimum Age: You must be at least 18 years of age to use this service.
Verification: Choos utilizes platform-level age signals from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store to confirm eligibility. Users under 18 are prohibited from creating an account without verifiable parental consent.
3. License to Use
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use Choos for personal, non-commercial purposes on your mobile device. You agree not to:
Reverse engineer or attempt to derive the source code of the Food Genome engine.
Use any automated scripts or scrapers to extract restaurant data from the app.
Manipulate the Food Roulette or swiping mechanics to gain an unfair advantage in group sessions.
4. Critical Disclaimers
A. Food Safety and Allergies
Choos is a discovery engine that provides third-party restaurant information for informational purposes only.
Allergen Warning: We do not verify the accuracy of ingredients, nutritional data, or cross-contamination risks listed on menus.
User Responsibility: If you have a severe food allergy, you must confirm all ingredient information directly with restaurant staff before consuming any food. Choos disclaims all liability for adverse reactions to food consumed through our recommendations.
B. Data Accuracy
Restaurant details—including ratings, “500+ reviews,” price levels ($$$), and opening hours—are sourced in real-time from the Google Places API and Yelp Fusion API. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that third-party information is up-to-date.
5. Third-Party Service Provisions
Your use of Choos is also subject to the following provider terms:
Google Maps Platform: All map views and restaurant data are subject to the(https://www.google.com/intl/en-US_US/help/terms_maps/). Choos displays the “Powered by Google” mark to comply with mandatory attribution rules.
Yelp Fusion: In accordance with Yelp’s developer agreement, descriptive business data (reviews and atmosphere details) is cached for a maximum of 24 hours and is re-fetched daily to ensure compliance and accuracy.
6. Multiplayer “Social Feast” and Gameplay Rules
To maintain the integrity of our gamified decision-making system, users agree to the following turn-based protocols:
Turn Logic: After a 3D Coin Flip determines the starting player, Player 1 acts as the “Gatekeeper” and must swipe left to eliminate one of the three options. Player 2 then acts as the “Kingmaker,” selecting the winner from the final two contenders.
Consensus: A “Match” is only declared upon a unanimous consensus or a successful tie-breaking coin flip.
Guest Access: Participants using the Guest Web Interface are subject to these same terms without the requirement of a full app download.
7. Proprietary Rights
The “Bitten C” logo, the Food Genome algorithm, and all unique UI elements (including the “Achievements” badge system and the “3 remaining” progress pill) are the exclusive intellectual property of Choos.
8. Termination and Account Deletion
You may terminate this agreement at any time by utilizing the “Delete Account” button on your Profile page. This action is permanent and will result in the immediate erasure of your personalized Food Genome profile and all “Liked” history from our Supabase servers.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Choos shall not be liable for any damages—direct, indirect, or incidental—resulting from your reliance on third-party restaurant data, your choice of dining locations, or technical interruptions in the service.
